Welcome to KindCast.
I'm your host, Chazmith, and I am so excited to be here with you to share a little good for your Monday.
I hope it adds just a little more joy to the start of your week.
If you listen to the first couple of episodes, I'm curious, have you started noticing kindness a little more?
0:32
Maybe you witnessed something over the weekend, Maybe somebody did something thoughtful for you, or maybe you remembered a time when someone showed up for you exactly when you needed it.
You know, honestly, I feel like I have been blessed a million times by the kindness of other people.
0:56
I, I mean, you know, I don't want to make a whole episode about all of the blessings I've received.
But even on my healing journey, I've experienced so much generosity.
There were times when people have offered me free coaching sessions when I couldn't afford them or sliding scale or.
1:17
I have an amazing friend whom I love and cherish so much.
Who gave me her time, encouragement, and support when she knew I needed it.
She was able to be there for me, knowing how hard it was for me to open up.
1:34
And she was able to hold such beautiful space for me to process some really heavy emotions more than once.
And all of these are gifts that I will never forget and will forever cherish.
My guess is that if you really sat with it, you would remember gifts that you've been given to.
1:54
So today's first story actually comes from someone Speaking of the healing community who is a part of the healing community.
And after listening to the first episode of Kind Cast, she messaged me and shared this story, which is so fun.
2:12
I absolutely love it.
So this is how it goes.
There's a mom and family out at a restaurant.
She's with her kids and she had brought along a bunch of stickers to keep the kids entertained.
While they were sitting there, she noticed that there was another family nearby with children also, so she walked over and asked if she could share some of the stickers with them.
2:38
The family happily accepted and everyone enjoyed their meal and that was that.
Or so she thought.
When it was finally time for them to pay their bill, the server came over and actually told them that the other family had already paid for their entire meal and left just like that.
3:02
And I love it.
Thank you so much friend for sharing that story with me to share with the world because this story.
OK, so this is what what I want to share about this story.
She wasn't sharing the stickers because she had expected anything in return, right?
3:24
She just saw an opportunity to make another family's day a little brighter.
And so, you know, sometimes kindness, it comes back around immediately like it did in the story, but sometimes it doesn't.
Usually I would say it doesn't, and that's OK.
3:40
We don't choose kindness because we're hoping to get something back.
We choose it because it feels good to make someone else's day a little brighter.
And if that kindness inspires someone else to pay it forward someday, then that's a pretty epic ripple effect.
3:59
I do want to say that I realized that the last couple stories, plus this story, they have involved money in some ways.
And I do want to make sure that we remember that kindness does not have to cost a thing.
4:16
So I have another story from a friend that I want to share today, and we're going to call her Betty.
And Betty told me about something another mom did for her.
The other mom we're going to call Boop.
So Betty and Boop usually alternate driving their daughters to gymnastics every week.
4:37
And one Saturday it happened to be Boop's turn to drive, and Betty and her husband had planned a little morning date together.
They were going to enjoy the farmers market, amongst other things, just spending a few hours together while their daughter was at gymnastics.
4:53
So Boop picked Betty's daughter up, drove her 30 minutes away to gymnastics, waited, and then drove her all the way back home afterwards.
Now, what Betty didn't know until much later is that Boop's own daughter was not even going to gymnastics that day.
5:17
So Boop could have easily called and said, hey, you know, my daughter isn't going to gymnastics today, so I'm not going to make the trip.
Can we resume carpool next week?
And no one would have blamed her, right?
Like, that would be so natural, so normal, so acceptable.
5:36
But instead, she quietly honored the carpool so that Betty and her husband could still enjoy their morning date day.
And Betty only found out later because her daughter actually mentioned that her friend hadn't even been at gymnastics.
5:53
How cool is that?
Think about the impact of something as simple as just offering someone a ride.
It gave 2 busy parents a chance to spend quality time together that was probably much needed.
And Boop didn't make some big announcement about it.
6:11
She didn't need recognition.
She just made space in her day to do something kind for someone else.
And sometimes kindness looks like that, just making space in your day.
Sometimes it might be buying a meal, or it might be driving 30 extra minutes, or it might just be a smile.
6:30
It might just be eye contact with somebody who felt invisible or offering a genuine compliment.
How often do we notice something about somebody else that is like a compliment, but we hold it in and keep it to ourselves out of fear or embarrassment rather than just saying it out loud because have you ever been complimented?
6:57
It feels so good, especially when you know it's genuine.
So why wouldn't we want to bless somebody else in that way, right?
What an easy act of kindness.
Another thing we can do is leave a five star review for a small business that earned it.
We don't realize often how quick people are to jump online and leave really bad reviews for one, you know, difficult experience.
7:22
But to take your time and rant and rave and leave the good reviews, it means the world to some of these small business owners.
It really does.
And none of those things cost much at all.
Yet they can completely change someone's day.
7:39
That's one of the things that I hope Klinecast becomes.
My hope is that these stories inspire you to notice the good happening all around you, and maybe even spark an idea for how you can brighten someone else's day.
I found that what we intentionally look for, we tend to notice more of rights.
8:01
When we start looking for kindness, it's amazing how much more of it we see and remember.
I can't do this alone.
So look for kindness with me and share your stories so that I can share your stories.
Tell me about an act of kindness you witnessed or something you did for someone, or something someone did for you.
8:24
Any moment where you were able to brighten someone else's day or have your day brightened, these stories deserve to travel further.
They deserve to be shared.
And until next Monday, keep looking for the good.
It's out there and I'll see you next week for a little more good for your day.
8:42
Cheers.
