Welcome to KindCast, a little good for your day.
I'm Chazmith and I really wanted to kick off episode 1 by sharing a story that was one of the stories that really sparked this whole idea for a while.
0:24
Now it feels like almost every day sends this idea really was sparked that I'll be out and about and I'll notice little acts of kindness happening all around me everyday people doing really beautiful things for one another.
0:42
And even before I really had this idea solidified, I would see things happening.
I would see things occasionally online where I would witness stuff on, you know, at work and just little experiences and I would keep hearing this little voice inside me saying someone needs to hear this story, someone needs to hear this story, someone needs to hear this story.
1:06
I kept feeling this pole to share them.
And the icing on the cake happened one day at work and another day at home actually, but I'll save that for another week.
I digress.
So anyhow, there was this couple in the restaurant enjoying dinner where I work.
1:24
We're going to call them couple A.
As they were finishing up their meal, another couple walked in.
We're going to call them couple BI happen to know from the reservation of couple B that they were celebrating an anniversary.
So as I seated them, I congratulated them and I asked them how many years are you celebrating?
1:44
And they smiled and said 33.
And can I just say as a side note, I love hearing stories like this.
Honestly, my job has given me so much faith in lasting relationships.
I've had the privilege of celebrating anniversaries with couples who've been together literally 60 years, 60 and still holding hands and still laughing together and still smiling together.
2:12
It's honestly one of my favorite parts of my job.
But anyhow, as I was digressing, apparently Couple A overheard my conversation with Couple B and as they finished dinner and they got up to leave, they stopped by Couple B's table and they chatted for a few minutes.
2:34
I just happily moved on and continued my work and doing all the other things I needed to do.
And I assumed, oh they must know each other because this happens all the time in a little restaurant in a little town.
But like a few minutes later, the gentleman from Couple A walks over to me and he quietly asks, hey, do you guys have gift cards here?
2:56
And I said, yeah, I do.
Do you need 1?
He said, can I buy a $200.00 gift card for that couple over there?
And I was like, all the ones you were just talking to.
That is so sweet.
So you guys know each other.
And he just smiled and said, no, we just spent.
But I heard they were celebrating.
3:14
And I said, what?
Nice.
I was honestly blown away.
This man didn't know them.
He didn't know them, He just met them and he just wanted to celebrate their joy.
So he purchased a gift card.
3:30
He walked it over, he set it on the table and simply said happy anniversary.
He didn't gloat or mention how much it was worth at all.
He just smiled, Happy anniversary and walked out.
So it wasn't until much later in the evening that Couple B opens this gift card up and realizes that it's $200.
3:54
And they were basically speechless.
Now listen, maybe for Couple A $200 wasn't a huge sacrifice.
Maybe it was.
We don't know.
Because for one person, $200 might feel like a fiver or someone else.
It might be everything.
But that's not really the point.
4:11
Point is, he saw an opportunity to make complete strangers feel truly celebrated, and he took it.
He seized the moment, and that moment stayed with me.
But here's the thing.
4:28
It wasn't an isolated moment.
I see things like this all the time.
I've watched people anonymously buy bottles of wine for honeymooners.
I've seen guests pay for another tables birthday dinner.
I've watched complete stranger celebrate one another simply because they happen to overhear something beautiful.
4:46
And every single time I leave work thinking people need to hear these stories because kindness is happening every single day.
Sometimes it's a $200.00 gift card.
Sometimes it's buying someone a cup of coffee.
5:02
Sometimes it's a $5 gas card, or holding the door open or really listening to someone who needs to feel seen that day.
Sometimes it's offering encouragement and just putting your hand on someone's shoulder or checking in on a neighbor.
It's these little things that add up.
5:20
And that's what Kind Cast is all about.
Sharing stories, big and small, mine and yours.
Our stories.
Because I truly believe that the more we start looking for the good, the more we'll find it.
I know that's been true for me.
So I would love to ask you, where have you seen kindness lately?
5:38
Or where have you been the recipient of kindness?
Send me your stories, or better yet, come join me on the podcast and tell them yourself.
My dream is to build such an incredible collection of stories that someday we might have enough to share a story every single day.
5:57
Wouldn't that be amazing?
But until then, I'll be back next Monday with a little more good for your day.
Cheers.
